Fans have been begging for a new Fifth Angel album for years. With many of the original members having moved on to lives outside of the music industry, there was little hope of a new release from this much loved Classic Heavy Metal act. With a 75% new line-up (only drummer Ken Mary is an original member) Fifth Angel is back and has managed to deliver everything that long-time fans have been hoping for. The Third Secret is a triumph, not only in terms of a comeback for a classic band, but also as a fresh, new Classic Heavy Metal album in the modern era.

Starting with “Stars Are Falling”, through “Dust To Dust”, and straight on to the ripping “Hearts Of Stone”, The Third Secret fires on all cylinders throughout its ten track length. New vocalist Kendall Bechtel captures the intensity of original singer Ted Pilot while introducing a slightly Dio-esq snarl. The mixture is perfectly fitting for the songs. Bechtel’s voice seems to have an abundance of power and range, and he uses both to full effect.

When an older, respected band makes a comeback, often, as fans, we get nervous wondering if they can still live up to their younger standard. The Third Secret not only continues the legacy of Fifth Angel but even raises the bar in many ways. The fact that a band could do this after having been away for so many years is breathtaking. Metal lovers off all kinds will be thrilled with this album.
