If you’re ever yearning for new Heavy Metal that combines all of the elements of the best heavy bands from the late 80s – early 90s, then look no further as Burning Witches are here to satisfy your Classic Metal cravings. Making the move from Nuclear Blast Records to Napalm Records, the band have come out swinging hard with their 5th studio album Burning Witches – The Dark Tower. With the same incredible lineup for the 3rd straight album: Laura Guldemond on vocals, with the twin guitar attack of founding member Romana Kalkuhl and Larissa Ernst, and the thundering rhythm section bassist Jeanine Grob and drummer Lala Frischknecht have outdone themselves with The Dark Tower.

Blistering Heavy Metal

For their 5th release, Burning Witches have concocted an evil brew of outstanding Heavy Metal as it should be, with blazing dual guitars and kick ass screaming vocals over the top of pounding rhythms. Right from the opening instrumental track “Rise Of Darkness”, the mood is set as “Unleash The Beast” follows with its rapid-fire double bass drumming, pyrotechnic guitars, and jaw dropping vocals. Next up, “Renegade” immediately oozes that early Accept feel as the guitars punch you square in the face. With the title track and its haunting intro “House of Blood”, Burning Witches have captured the style and dark vibes from King Diamond’s Conspiracy album, with all of its darkness and twin guitar glory. All of the songs work seamlessly together for a great listen, and awesome head banging experience.

Final Notes

Burning Witches – The Dark Tower shows the evolution, and constant improvement of a great Heavy Metal band. They have created a superb blend of all of the best elements from the heaviest bands of the 80s, while adding their own unique style and sound. This release will be a sure hit for any fans of King Diamond and Andy LaRocque, as the Burning Witches have turned it up a notch on guitar precision and dark melodies and lyrics. Fans of 80s – 90s era dark Heavy Metal and Thrash need to definitely check out this album, and do yourself a favor and dig into the back catalogue of this great band. Burning Witches –The Dark Tower is available for pre-order in several great vinyl and CD packages with shirts and posters directly from Napalm Records.
