35 Years of Awesome Metal

From one of those Heavy Metal vocalists that’s often imitated, but can never be duplicated comes a compilation album spanning his 35 year career as a solo artist in the band U.D.O.. Of course we are talking about the one and only Udo Dirkschneider, who originally made his name as the voice of German legends Accept. U.D.O. – The Legacy contains 33 tracks taken from his entire catalog, with 4 rare bonus tracks that may be a first time listen for many fans.

About the Album

U.D.O. – The Legacy was produced by Udo Dirkschneider and original Accept drummer Stefan Kaufmann, and includes tracks from the albums Game Over, We Are One, Steelfactory, Decadent, Steelhammer, Rev-Raptor, Dominator, Mastercutor, Mission No. X, Thunderball, Man And Machine, Holy, No Limits, Solid, Timebomb, Faceless World, Mean Machine, and Animal HouseThe 4 bonus tracks that are a real treat for fans old and young alike include: “Wilder Life”, “What a Hell of a Night”, “Falling Angels” and “Dust and Rust”. U.D.O. – The Legacy is the first greatest hits album from the band in 15 years, and is obviously the most comprehensive collection of their songs in one package.

Final Notes

With a voice that never seems to age, but actually improves over time like fine wine, Udo Dirkschneider continues to create excellent Heavy Metal, and shows no signs of slowing down. With this new compilation album, fans are given a super-sampler of some of the best music the U.D.O. band has created over the last 35 years. While no compilation album can have everyone’s favorite song, U.D.O. – The Legacy does a great job of covering the essentials of Udo’s career post-Accept. If you have all of his albums, you may not need this one, but on the other hand you may want it anyway. For the rest of us, it’s a great collection to remind us of a singer who has not faded away, but has only grown stronger over the years. Highly recommended!

About Bryce Van Patten 333 Articles
Bryce is an audio engineer and a graphic designer here at Metal Express Radio. From the day he purchased his first album (Machine Head by Deep Purple), he has had a passion for heavy music, which has influenced his whole life. Bryce is from the great Pacific Northwest in USA, and has played in metal bands like Babylon, Holy Terror, The Wild Dogs, Warhead and Egypt through the 80s. He had his first interview for the Portland, Oregon publication The Rock Rag with guitarist Paul Gilbert in his Racer X days. Then he was honored to get to have drinks, and talk for an hour with the legendary Dan McCafferty of Nazareth for his second interview. In 2013, he spent an amazing hour talking to Andi Deris of Helloween, which was the high point of his heavy metal journalism.   In the year 2001, he formed Man in Black Music Publishing. They released recordings by several local bands, and in the spirit of the old Metal Massacre compilations, he created a 2-album series called The Defenders of Metal. The albums featured classic styled Metal bands from all around the world, with bands from Australia to England, and from Argentina to Russia. Currently, he is the producer/creator/vocalist of the Metal band The Black Tuesdays.
