Rounding out the third installment of Blaze Bayley’s Infinite Entanglement concept album trilogy, The Redemption of William Black closes out and ties together the two previous releases, Infinite Entanglement and Endure and Survive. This trilogy (the current release included) is now widely considered to be Bayley’s best material since Silicon Messiah (another sci-fi concept release) in 2000. It’s extremely gratifying that the trilogy has been consistently good, and can now be listened to as one, top-quality, complete work.

While Bayley’s voice has lost a bit of the bite that made him famous back in his Iron Maiden days, his skill as a songwriter has evolved nicely over the years and resulted in albums that are remarkably enjoyable from the first listen. The production quality of ‘Redemption is consistent with the previous releases and is good, although a bit dry and retro sounding. The overall presentation of these concept albums might have been improved with some more modern mixing techniques, but this is really just a matter of preference.

There are several standout tracks, like “Redeemer”, “Human Eyes”, and “Eagle Spirit”, but this is an album that should really be listened to in its entirety, preferably with the first two albums of the trilogy, for the full Infinite Entanglement story to be told!
