Serious Black is a rather new band, formed originally just a few years ago by 6 known players predominantly from the Power and Prog/Power circles of Metal. Like many “supergroups,” Serious Black got right to work, releasing As Daylight Breaks in 2015, followed by this release, Mirrorworld in 2016. The band vacillates between knocking out Power Metal and Melodic Metal tracks, doing justice to both genres … although, one must admit it’s odd to hear customary Power Metal speed in one track, followed by a more conventional mid-tempo in the next. Regardless of that anomaly, Mirrorworld is well-written, performed, and recorded. Check it out!

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
