Voodoo Circle is a supergroup based out of Germany and headed up by guitarist Alex Beyrodt. High end notables in the band include David Readman (vocals) and Mat Sinner (bass). The band has a small handful of releases to their credit and the new album Whisky Fingers focuses heavily on a Classic Melodic Hard Rock sound. Actually, and without exaggeration, this record could easily pass for a Whitesnake album (before they became mega-superstars). Whisky Fingers is an easy listen and will appeal to many … the only disappointment is too many similarities to Whitesnake and no apparent stamp of originality.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.

  1. Interesting take on this new album even though I have yet to hear it. I saw the band at ProgPowerUSA & they played very well but I wasn’t as “thrilled” as I had expected. I too shared that feeling that they do what they do very well but without any particular signature characteristics. I can fully understand why so many people dig this band & WILL give this album a very critical listen as I am a fan of Mat,Alex, & David’s work.
