Some the best Power Metal comes from Italy, and Alterium continues that tradition with their debut album Of War And Flames on AFM Records. Led by Nicoletta Rosellini (ex. Kalidia, Walk in Darkness), the band was born in late 2022 with former bandmates Paolo Campitelli on guitar and drummer Dario Gozzi, both from Kalidia.  Soon joined by two more exceptionally talented musicians Alessandro Mammola on guitar (Draconicon) and bassist Luca Scalabrin (Altair), Alterium was complete.

Social Media Influencer Nicoletta

During her experience with Kalidia, Nicoletta achieved fame, with currently more than 50,000 followers on social media. Kalidia’s well-acclaimed second album The Frozen Throne (2018) reached more than 4 million streams on Spotify, 6 million views on YouTube and over 4,000 physical copies sold. Nicoletta is also known for being the lead singer of the band of mysterious gothic metallers: Walk in Darkness, who released 4 successful albums, boasting more than 13 million views on YouTube.

Fast forward to 2022, and Nicoletta Rosellini stepped up as a force in song writing under the guidance of producer Lars Rettkowitz (Freedom Call). The results are Of War And Flames, with it’s catchy choruses, beautiful vocal lines, and  kick ass guitar riffs. Add to that the pyrotechic leads, explosive drums, topped off with majestic choirs, and you have a fantastic debut album.

Final Notes

With 9 very strong originals right out of the gates, and a striking cover of Sabaton’s “Bismarck”, Alterium – Of War And Flames hits on all cylinders. The album is a great listen from front to back, keeping the audience captivated throughout the 42 minutes of Power Metal bliss.

Power Metal fans need to take notice, as Alterium has what it takes to go all the way to the top. Support these fabulous newcomers, and pick up a physical copy of Of War And Flames. You’ll be glad you did.
