Colombier Saugnieu: 3 hamlets, 2700 inhabitants, a couple of farms,  a bakery, a school, a view of the Mont-Blanc (when it’s sunny)….and a Metal Festival!

Since 2012 the hamlet of Montcul (for those who don’t speak French the name of this hamlet could be literally translated as “My Ass” not kidding)  in Colombier Saugnieu has hosted in early July a Hard Rock and Metal Festival. Starting as a modest local festival, the Plane’R Fest has over the years gathered a faithful and growing audience thanks to diverse and exciting lineups. From classic Hard Rock bands to Extreme Death Metal with Punk and Hardcore in between, it’s the kind of festival that can please all kinds of Metalheads!

The 2023 edition of Plane’R Fest will be memorable with an excellent lineup featuring both local bands who only deserve recognition and international headliners who have already graced the most prestigious stages: Blind Guardian, Myrath, Carpenter Brut, Mass Hysteria and Paradise Lost to name but few.  Situated only a couple of miles from the international airport and high-speed train station of Lyon Saint-Exupéry, the festival is easily accessible and remains a friendly event where you can see the artists up close.

This week, our reviewer Séverine Peraldino, who will be at the festival, went through the discographies of all the bands playing at Plane’R Fest and selected the best songs to get you ready for the festival. If you enjoyed this selection, don’t hesitate and grab your tickets!
