Outstanding German Power Metal

From one of Germany’s 21st century Power Metal contenders; Powerwolf, comes a new live album/cinematic event titled The Monumental Mass. This completely over the top streaming even was captured live, and is now available in multiple formats including a 96 page earbook, 48 page mediabook, deluxe box, vinyl box and even cassette tapes. The band makes a great performance, lead by Attila Dorn (ex-Dragon’s Tongue) on vocals, Charles Greywolf (ex-Flowing Tears) on the bass, Matthew Greywolf (ex-Red Aim) playing guitar, Falk Maria Schlegel Keyboards (ex-The Experience) on keyboards and Roel van Helden (Zero Hour, ex-Delphian) on the drums.

Excellent Live Album

This review only covers the audio portion of the release, and therefore doesn’t paint the full picture. That said, with watching the video and listening to the album it’s pretty easy to get a good idea of the whole package. The concert includes fan favorites “Demons Are A Girl’s Best Friend,” “Beast Of Gévaudan,” and top radio hit of their last studio album, “Dancing With The Dead”. The stage sets are pretty incredible and the performances are great.

Final Notes

This live performance is top notch from start to finish. The sound production is amazing, and the band is killing it on stage. With 22 tracks of solid Power Metal, you can’t go wrong adding it to your collection, and with all of the formats, you’re sure to find a way to make it yours.

Bryce is an audio engineer and a graphic designer here at Metal Express Radio. From the day he purchased his first album (Machine Head by Deep Purple), he has had a passion for heavy music, which has influenced his whole life. Bryce is from the great Pacific Northwest in USA, and has played in metal bands like Babylon, Holy Terror, The Wild Dogs, Warhead and Egypt through the 80s. He had his first interview for the Portland, Oregon publication The Rock Rag with guitarist Paul Gilbert in his Racer X days. Then he was honored to get to have drinks, and talk for an hour with the legendary Dan McCafferty of Nazareth for his second interview. In 2013, he spent an amazing hour talking to Andi Deris of Helloween, which was the high point of his heavy metal journalism.   In the year 2001, he formed Man in Black Music Publishing. They released recordings by several local bands, and in the spirit of the old Metal Massacre compilations, he created a 2-album series called The Defenders of Metal. The albums featured classic styled Metal bands from all around the world, with bands from Australia to England, and from Argentina to Russia. Currently, he is the producer/creator/vocalist of the Metal band The Black Tuesdays.
