Masterful Power Metal

From Stockholm Sweden comes the long awaited fifth studio release from Insania – V (Praeparatus Supervivet) on Frontiers S.L.R.. After a 14 year hiatus and feeling energized and inspired, the Swedes are back with a powerful new record full of speedy, soaring tracks in the classic European Power Metal style with double-bass drums, great hooks, and amazing solos. The band’s current lineup consists of Mikko Korsbäck on the drums, bassist Tomas Stolt, Niklas Dahlin and Peter Östros on guitars, Ola Halén on vocals, with Dimitri Keiski on the keyboards.

Triumphant Return

Insania fans have been waiting since 2007 for a new album, and the good news is V (Praeparatus Supervivet) is well worth the wait. With 11 tracks coming in at just over 64 minutes, V (Praeparatus Supervivet) packs a serious punch from start to finish. “Praeparatus Supervivet” hits you right in the face, and is probably the best song on the album for this reviewer. “Moonlight Shadows” has a great classical intro that builds in power, climaxing in full-speed Power Metal with big melodies and a powerful chorus. The musicianship is definitely top-notch on every instrument, with the production sounding better than ever.

Final Notes

While 14 years is a long time to take a break from creating new material, in this case it looks to be well worthwhile as this is arguably Insania’s best effort to date. Power Metal fans will dig V (Praeparatus Supervivet) with all of its dual guitar, rapid fire drums and soaring melodies. Looking for another great addition to your Heavy Metal album collection? Look no further, Insania – V (Praeparatus Supervivet) is a keeper, and well worth the small investment.
