CHRISTIAN CARLSSON (THE QUILL): “We Are Very Much A Live Band”

The Quill

Real, No Frills Rock at Full Throttle

The last time we heard new music from The Quill was on their 2017 release Born From Fire. For their 9th studio album Earthrise, the Swedish Rock outfit amassed and recorded nearly 20 songs. The Quill managed to whittle down that collection to 9 solid tracks about the state of the world today and the types of alienation that are prevalent in it. Earthrise will be released on March 26, 2021 through Metalville Records. I had the chance to speak with guitarist Christian Carlsson ahead of the album’s release.

Highlights Include:

  • Discussion of their new album Earthrise
  • Does the band record traditionally or via file sharing
  • Carlsson’s appreciation for vinyl
  • Does The Quill have plans for more streaming performances?
  • Why he prefers festival shows
  • Carlsson’s favorite and least favorite gigs
  • Winning the 2020 Culture Prize in their hometown
  • …and much, much more!

The Quill is:

Magnus Ekwall – Vocals
Christian Carlsson – Guitar
Roger Nilsson – Bass
Jolle Atlagic – Drums
