LEE AARON: “If You’re Over 45 And You’re Writing About Chicks And Drinking Still… Please!”

Lee Aaron

Rock ‘n’ Roll Radio Queen

Lee Aaron is a multi-platinum, award winning Canadian vocalist. Longtime Heavy Metal fans are sure to recall her 1984 Attic Records release Metal Queen. It may have been premature to label the songstress ‘Metal,’ because over the 30+ years and 11 albums that followed, Aaron proved she can’t be contained. On July 23, 2021 Lee Aaron releases her 13th album Radio On! though Metalville Records.

Radio On! was written in one weekend, and contains 12 songs that tap into the influences that inspired us as teenagers. Loaded with melodic hooks, big harmonies, and loud guitars, Lee explores mortality, materialism, addiction, and love through her lyrics. I had the chance to speak with Lee Aaron prior to the album’s release.

Highlights Include

  • Discussion of her latest album Radio On!
  • Who makes up Lee’s backing band
  • Why she signed with Metalville Records
  • The most outrageous question she received for her Instagram Q & A sessions
  • What brought Lee back to Rock music in 2016
  • How Jazz parallels Rock ‘n’ Roll
  • Why Attic Records in Canada didn’t promote Lee Aaron in the U.S. during the ’80s
  • How and why her most successful album Bodyrock was made on a shoe-string budget
  • When Lee Aaron will tour again
  • Writing for the next studio album
  • Record Store Day reissue of Metal Queen on bright pink vinyl
  • … and much, much more!
