Marilyn Manson stalks the Moda Center

Having never seen Marilyn Manson live, I have no frame of reference to judge him based on past performances, which is perfect. He is here now, and so is a packed Moda Center of screaming fans just waiting for the master of Shock Rock to begin the ceremonies. Right out of the gates, the band opened with the Marilyn Manson classic “Angel with the Scabbed Wings”, and did not disappoint!

The band played several more great tunes, leading up to the crowd favorite “The Dope Show”, which was ceremoniously introduced by Marilyn Manson having a relaxing puff on stage, followed by enthusiastic fans and their little puffs in answer.

Marilyn Manson band was tight, delivering great songs in perfection.

As Marilyn Manson performed on, I found myself really digging the tightness of his band. With Paul Wiley on guitar and backing vocals, Juan Alderete on the bass and backing vocals, they created the perfect sound and look for the brand of Rock and Roll that Marilyn Manson stands for.

Marilyn Manson delivered on all promises, and the crowd loved his hauntingly brilliant version of the Eurythmics hit “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)”. I am glad that the cover tune made the set. Well,  me and about 14,000 other screaming fans.

Marilyn Manson surrounds himself with talent, as he should

Marilyn Manson is a class act, and a real pro, so obviously he is going to surround himself with some very talented people. For example: amazing Brandon Pertzborn on the drums even took a drum solo in the name of nostalgia, which is not something I would have expected at a Marilyn Manson show. It was no real surprise: The kid was amazing, and a real spark to the band.

Ultimately, there is still only one Marilyn Manson, and he is here to stay!

Closing the show with “Antichrist Superstar” and “The Beautiful People” couldn’t have been a better way to end a great show from a legend in heavy music. I for one am glad to be able to say that I finally saw the Marilyn Manson, and was not disappointed.
