Blackout is the sixth release from, Bergen, Norway based Hard Rock band Audrey Horne.  That particular region of Norway is famous for Death Metal, and Audrey Horne features several members that are members of Death Metal bands as well.  In fact, Audrey Horne’s record label, Napalm Records, primarily features Death Metal bands.  Guitarist Ice Dale (Enslaved), Guitarist Thomas Tofthagen (Sahg), Drummer Kjetil Greve (Deride), Vocalist Torkjell Rød aka Toschie, and Bass, Espen come together and produce an eclectic mix of Classic Rock, Blues, Hard Rock, and even some Prog Rock elements.  The opening track of Blackout, “This Is War” kicks off with some very Prog Rock elements, and Iron Maiden-ish gallop.

“Audrevolution” has very classic rock vibe, with great vocal harmonies and a big chorus.  “Blackout” kicks off some very Scorpions sounding guitar harmonies and has more of a 70’s Classic Rock vibe.   The entire record is filled with differing styles of Classic Rock styles with elements of Scorpions, Rolling Stones, and many others. Each of the 10 tracks have something to offer.   Fans of 70s Classic rock will really dig Blackout.  Audrey Horne have done a great job of capturing that essence, and incorporating modern production.  Definitely worth a listen.

Stevie was a reviewer here at Metal Express Radio. He is currently the lead guitarist for Melodic Rock band Red Reign, based in Richmond, Virginia, USA. Red Reign toured with Tesla in 2017, and shared the stage with Dokken, FireHouse, Lita Ford, Kix, Quiet Riot, and others at various dates around the US in 2018. Stevie heard his first KISS record at the age of 6 and was immediately hooked on Rock and Roll guitar. Over the course of years his tastes evolved, graduating from KISS to Ozzy and Van Halen; and then into Hair Metal. Over time, harder and faster music drew him. Bands like Metallica, Pantera, and Anthrax led the way, and Killswitch Engage took him over the top. Stevie has a deep passion for the guitar, not only playing them, but building them as well.
