Sweden’s Amaranthe have enjoyed plenty of success and received a number of accolades since forming in 2008. Their music crosses the genres of Pop and Heavy Metal: “Dance Metal”, as described by singer Elize Ryd who carries this album with her flawless vocals. Riffs coupled with synth give some KMFDM similarities, but the focus points toward the mainstream. This, along with a high production value, results in very upbeat, radio-friendly songs that are receiving substantial airplay.

Maximalism is Amaranthe’s latest release, and their most direct. Whatever shyness there may have been in the past is gone. Upfront, sexual, and sinfully sweet, the band embraces their ability to bring Metal to the dance floor. Every song is less than four minutes long, but twelve tracks keep the album full length. There is so much energy here; four albums in five years isn’t burning these guys out at all. Amaranthe seem to have found their niche and are at the top of their game.

Jude was a reviewer here at Metal Express Radio, living in Taiwan but originally from the great state of Ohio, USA. He first got into music when a fellow weirdo in his catholic high school needed someone to play guitar with. They jammed on some Grunge Rock, but soon he got hooked on the blisteringly-fast shredding of Randy Rhoads and other greats. Later, he bought Metallica's Ride The Lightning as his first album purchase. During that time, his friends and him would end up at local Metal shows. He played in some bands himself as well.
