As Power Metal goes, Iron Mask have their sound pretty much 100% dialed in. The band is tight, aggressive, melodic and dripping with arpeggios and keyboard solos. With Diabolica, Iron Mask’s 6th release, fans are treated to a slightly more straight ahead Power Metal album with a bit less Neoclassical influence than heard before from Iron Mask. New vocalist Diego Valdez shines with Russell Allen-esq grit, while retaining the melodic power and brightness of his Iron Mask predecessor Mark Boals. Lyric themes include fan favorites like World War II, evil priests, the greatness of Metal and Satan. While the album could perhaps use a few more uptempo tracks, any fan, casual or hardcore, of the Power Metal genre will enjoy Diabolica.

Highlights are numerous and include, “Doctor Faust”, “March 666”, the Party Metal flavored “All For Metal” and the 14-minute “Cursed In The Devil’s Mill”.
