Nine albums in sixteen years is a pretty good score these days since bands usually take their time between releases. Even more respect has to be shown to these Germans for their impressive line of strong, pure Metal releases, of which War Brigade is just another example.

Mystic Prophecy has created their own brand of Traditional (not overly original but powerful) Heavy Metal, which never fails to move headbangers all over the world. Aggressive, straight riffing plus the strong voice of Roberto Dimitri Liapakis makes War Brigade heavy, yet some bombastic elements and modern sounds set it apart enough to be sufficiently original. A very good release with eleven songs that scream to be performed live. Only the bonus track of the digipak-version, a cover version of “Sex Bomb”, is a musical disaster. The jewel case version is highly recommended. Or just press stop after song 11.

Frank got hooked on Metal at the age of 14 when a friend introduced him to AC/DC and that was in 1981. Since then he listens to a variety of musical styles, including Prog and Songwriter-stuff, but mainly Metal of almost all types with one exception: He does not understand and has no clue about Black Metal. So dragons are fine, all kinds of monsters are, cats, too, of course, just no Pandas. Sorry.
