Frank is a reviewer here at Metal Express Radio, based in Bavaria, Germany. He has worked in the games industry for over 30 years. Frank got hooked on Metal at the age of 14, when a friend introduced him to AC/DC back in 1981. Since then, he has enjoyed a wide variety of musical styles, including Prog and singer-songwriter material, but mainly Metal of almost all kinds—with one exception: he neither understands nor has any clue about Black Metal. Dragons are fine, all kinds of monsters are fine, cats too, of course… just no pandas. Sorry.

DEATH DEALER – Reign Of Steel

It is always confusing when there are several bands with the same name. This is not the Canadian version of Death Dealer, but the Californian variety boasting several musicians who are well known to metalheads …READ MORE
An album cover for Beyond The Black - Break the Silence features a surreal, desaturated portrait of a person whose face contains a large, irregular void where the eyes and bridge of the nose would be. This opening is framed by a thin gold border and reveals a dark interior housing a glowing, golden soundwave or frequency pattern. The figure and the textured background are rendered in moody, dark blue and grey tones, creating a stark contrast with the gold accents. The band name, "BEYOND THE BLACK," is displayed at the top in a weathered, gold serif font, and the album title, "BREAK the SILENCE," is written at the bottom right in a similar style. The overall design conveys a sense of introspection and powerful, hidden energy.

BEYOND THE BLACK – Breaking The Silence

One cannot accuse German symphonic metal outfit Beyond The Black of laziness, as Break The Silence is their sixth album in eleven years. But it is not only the quantity of their output that has …READ MORE
An album cover for Bullet - Kickstarter features a close-up, low-angle photograph of a person's leg and foot on a motorcycle. The person is wearing blue jeans and a brown leather boot, with their foot positioned on a metal pedal. The motorcycle shows a prominent chrome exhaust pipe, a spoked wheel with a white-wall tire, and a glimpse of a purple-colored frame. A bright, warm orange and yellow light flare emanates from the center of the mechanical components. The background consists of a dark, textured surface and a pale sky. The band name, "BULLET," is displayed in large, stylized white letters with a radial burst pattern at the top left, and the album title, "KICKSTARTER," is in simple white capital letters directly below it. The overall image has a gritty, vintage, and high-energy feel.

BULLET – Kickstarter

December 27, 2025 Frank Jaeger Leave a comment
A name can hardly be more Metal than Bullet, can it? The five-piece band hails from the beautifully named city of Växjö, Sweden, which screams metal, too, with its two umlauts. It is no wonder …READ MORE
An album cover for Testament - Para Bellum is a dramatic, painterly scene dominated by fiery orange and yellow tones, suggesting a catastrophic event. Five dark, robed, shadowy figures stand in the foreground, each holding a staff or weapon and casting long shadows towards the viewer. They are facing a brilliant, glowing, angelic or goddess-like figure with long, flowing hair and wings of light, who appears to be floating in an explosion of energy that resembles a mushroom cloud. The figure's hands are clasped in a gesture of prayer or reverence. The band name, "TESTAMENT," is centered at the top in a metallic, stylized font, and the album title, "PARA BELLUM," is spelled out in capital letters at the very bottom. The overall image evokes themes of war, apocalypse, and divine power.

A landmark in US thrash metal releases its thirteenth album. This should be a band that does not have to be introduced anymore, right? Genre Defining Place in History When Testament appeared openly in the …READ MORE
An album cover for Sintage - Unbound Triumph is a classic heavy metal illustration featuring a muscular man with long dark hair standing triumphantly on a pile of jagged rocks. He is dressed in an open black leather vest, blue jeans, and chains, and is raising a black V-shaped electric guitar over his head. At his feet, a large, venomous snake, possibly a cobra, is partially wrapped around the rocks and secured by heavy chains, with blood visible around its mouth. The background is a dramatic, fiery orange and red sky with bolts of white and blue lightning striking around the figure. The band name, "SINTAGE," is at the top in a metallic, angular font, and the album title, "UNBOUND TRIUMPH," is below it. The overall aesthetic is one of raw power and victory.

SINTAGE – Unbound Triumph

A relatively new five-piece band hailing from Leipzig, Germany, Sintage serves a very strong offering with their third release Unbound Triumph. Who They Are The band first appeared in the German metal scene in 2021, …READ MORE
An album cover for "A.C.T. - Eternal Winter" depicts a surreal, snowy landscape with heavy snowfall. On the right, a large, snow-covered mass of pine trees features a pale, theatrical mask embedded in the snow, gazing outward. A large snowflake is visible on the mask's cheek. Below this, the image transitions into a dark, snow-dusted, crumbling cityscape or fortress. Two dark birds fly over the ruins on the left. The scene is illuminated by a mix of cold blue and white from the snow and a warm, pale yellow light from the background, creating a dramatic contrast. The band's logo, "A.C.T.," is at the top in a white, cursive style, and the album title, "Eternal Winter," is at the bottom in a distressed, icy font.

The cover art for Fargo's live album "Live In '25" features a psychedelic, multi-colored collage (pink, blue, yellow) of the band members performing live. The cover art for AMORPHIS - Borderland. The painting depicts a massive white swan with gold-tipped wings rising out of a churning waterfall and dark water. Above the water, a high, ancient stone bridge crosses the image, where two white and gold humanoid figures meet. The scene is framed by thick, dark pine trees on the right, and small, pale, naked figures are seen climbing among the rocks and water below the tree line.
