Huntress is a female-fronted Melodic/Traditional/Death Metal band coming out of the Southern California area, and Starbound Beast is their sophomore release. Front-woman Jill Janus is the mastermind behind the album’s cosmos lyrical theme — a concoction derived from esoteric science and bong rips (a quick observation is Janus may be in need of psychotherapy!). Musically, however, Starbound Beast is surprisingly well done … there are plenty of strong riffs, strong drumbeats, catchy rhythms and quality solos to be found. If you can handle the various forms of “tough girl” vocal styles by Janus, Huntress is a band worth checking out.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
