King Kobra, founded by revered drummer Carmine Appice, has gone through a few changes over the years, and currently includes Paul Shortino (vocals), Mick Sweda and David Michael-Philips (guitars) and Johnny Rod (bass).  Although King Kobra released an album entitled III back in 1988, the band’s new release is entitled II because this is the 2nd album released by the latest incarnation (whatever!).  II is a pretty straightforward (but enjoyable) Melodic Hard Rock album with ‘80s, ‘70s, and occasional Blues influences.  If bands such as Kiss and Blue Murder excite you, then King Kobra II is definitely worth your while.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
