Denmark’s Pretty Maids are a highly respected band in parts of Europe, but generally a well-kept secret in North America (unfortunately). Their latest release, Motherland, is another quality effort. The band’s at their best when forging into Melodic Metal (check out “Mother Of All Lies” and “Who What Where When Why”), but some momentum is lost due to slicing in a few semi-drab Melodic Rock tracks. However, Pretty Maids knock it out of the park with their 2 ballads: “Infinity” and “Bullet For You” … which includes the top notch chorus:

“I’ll be your Rock…
Your Knight in Shining Armor
Girl there is nothing I wouldn’t do
And nothing can stop…
This fire in my heart now
You know that it’s true…
I’ll take a bullet for you”

Heart spoken, and never better.  Definitely check Motherland out!

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
