Dead Elysium is the sixth release from the Australian Melodic Metal band Vanishing Point. It is the first new record in over 6 years and features Silvio Massaro (Vocals), Chris Porcianko (Guitars), James Maier (Guitars), Gaston Chin (Bass), Damien Hall (Drums). The record also features the production talents of Teramaze/Meshiaak guitarist Dean Wells.

Dead Elysium is simply a great record. Very well written and arranged songs, stellar performances, and killer arrangements across the board. The production is world-class. Everything is loud and clear. Each individual instrument sits perfectly in the mix, yielding a sonority and mellifluousness that is uncommon. Massaro’s vocals are powerful and uplifting.

The record kicks off with the title track, “Dead Elysium” an absolutely driving epic, followed by one of the strongest tracks, the anthemic “Count Your Days”. That’s saying a lot on this record. Every song is complex and rich, without becoming overbearing or chaotic. “Free” is a bit heavier than some of the other tracks, and “Recreate The Impossible” has very progressive elements. Vanishing Point does a great job of incorporating a lot of flavors and textures into the various tracks without ever really departing from the Melodic Metal genre.

Dead Elysium is an impressive work, and a great listen. Fans of Vanishing Point, Melodic Metal, and Progressive Metal will most certainly find something to enjoy.

Red Reign toured with Tesla in 2017, and shared the stage with Dokken, FireHouse, Lita Ford, Kix, Quiet Riot, and others at various dates around the US in 2018. Stevie heard his first KISS record at the age of 6 and was immediately hooked on Rock and Roll guitar. Over the course of years his tastes evolved, graduating from KISS to Ozzy and Van Halen; and then into Hair Metal. Over time, harder and faster music drew him. Bands like Metallica, Pantera, and Anthrax led the way, and Killswitch Engage took him over the top. Stevie has a deep passion for the guitar, not only playing them, but building them as well.
