Santa Muerte is the latest release from German Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band Sinner. Founder and singer/bassist Mat Sinner has produced more than 12 studio albums under the Sinner flag, spanning 35 years. The lineup for Santa Muerte consists of Mat Sinner (Bass & Vocals), Tom Naumann (Guitars), Alex Scholpp (Guitars), Markus Kullmann (Drums), and, for the first time includes a full-time second vocalist, Giorgia Colleluori.

The record also includes a host of guests, including Ricky Warwick (Thin Lizzy, Black Star Riders, The Almighty) on “What Went Wrong”, Ronnie Romero (Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow) on “Fiesta Y Copas”, Swedish guitarist/co-songwriter Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear, Allen/Lande) on “Death Letter” and background vocalist Sascha Krebs, performing backgrounds and choral arrangements throughout.

Santa Muerte is a very strong record, and the title track is the strongest of all. The record is sonically very good. Well produced, clear and punchy, and both Sinner and Colleluori have powerful voices, and the interplay of the two is very well done. Colleolouri calls to mind Lzzy Hale at times, and has shades of Beth Hart on the Son House classic “Death Letter” cover. “Fiesta Y Copas” is another really strong, radio-friendly Hard Rock Jam. Fans of Sinner, Hard Rock, Melodic Rock, and Heavy Metal should check Santa Muerte out.

About Stevie Shred 166 Articles
Stevie was a reviewer here at Metal Express Radio. He is currently the lead guitarist for Melodic Rock band Red Reign, based in Richmond, Virginia, USA. Red Reign toured with Tesla in 2017, and shared the stage with Dokken, FireHouse, Lita Ford, Kix, Quiet Riot, and others at various dates around the US in 2018. Stevie heard his first KISS record at the age of 6 and was immediately hooked on Rock and Roll guitar. Over the course of years his tastes evolved, graduating from KISS to Ozzy and Van Halen; and then into Hair Metal. Over time, harder and faster music drew him. Bands like Metallica, Pantera, and Anthrax led the way, and Killswitch Engage took him over the top. Stevie has a deep passion for the guitar, not only playing them, but building them as well.
