Another State Of Grace is the fourth studio record from American Classic Rock band Black Star Riders. Black Star Riders was formed in 2012 when the current lineup of Thin Lizzy decided to record new material, but to not use the name, out of respect to the memory Phil Lynott, Thin Lizzy founder, who passed in 1986. The current lineup features Ricky Warwick, lead vocals, guitars, acoustic guitar; Scott Gorham, guitars, backing vocals; Robbie Crane, bass guitar, backing vocals; Chad Szeliga, drums; and Christian Martucci, guitars, backing vocals.

While Black Star Riders say they have moved forward from the classic Thin Lizzy style, but it is truly evident throughout the record. “Tonight The Moonlight”, the opening track, has shades of “Jailbreak” throughout, and the guitar and vocal harmonies are unmistakable. Fans of Thin Lizzy will very much enjoy Another State Of Grace, as will fans of Black Star Riders. The classic rock vibe and Thin Lizzy sound is prevalent throughout. The record is well produced, with excellent performances throughout, and mojo that is sorely lacking in many releases today. The only downside is the decidedly political lyrics in several of the songs. “Why Do You Love Your Guns”, “In The Shadow Of The War Machine”, and several others attempt to make statements about the current political climate, and in a world that is already saturated with opinion, such content is tiresome.

Black Star Riders have produced a great sounding record with Classic Rock sensibilities and modern production value, and Classic Rock fans should definitely give ear.

Stevie was a reviewer here at Metal Express Radio. He is currently the lead guitarist for Melodic Rock band Red Reign, based in Richmond, Virginia, USA. Red Reign toured with Tesla in 2017, and shared the stage with Dokken, FireHouse, Lita Ford, Kix, Quiet Riot, and others at various dates around the US in 2018. Stevie heard his first KISS record at the age of 6 and was immediately hooked on Rock and Roll guitar. Over the course of years his tastes evolved, graduating from KISS to Ozzy and Van Halen; and then into Hair Metal. Over time, harder and faster music drew him. Bands like Metallica, Pantera, and Anthrax led the way, and Killswitch Engage took him over the top. Stevie has a deep passion for the guitar, not only playing them, but building them as well.
