Fans of Edenbridge, and the poppier sounding Nightwish releases will enjoy the new MindMaze album, Resolve. Excellent Euro-style songwriting and production are hard at work here and the tracks are generally enjoyable if a bit on the inoffensive side. What MindMaze lacks in aggression and energy, it makes up for with a polished sound and feelings of love for its fans. The largest complaint here, by far, would be that too few artistic risks are being taken and the songs sometimes come off as hotel-wall-artwork style blandness. The band has worked hard to reach the level of recognition that they now reside at and perhaps they are simply too worried about maintaining that level to risk taking a more traditional Metal attitude and middle-finger-in-your-face stance.

Highlights include “Fight The Future” and “Sign Of Life” although most any track on the album will be equally enjoyable for the pedestrian Melodic Prog Metal fan.
