With a number of records under their belt, Burning Point maintains momentum with The Blaze. These Finns crank out an LP with the right amount of effects to make it polished without being gaudy. There is a lot of Traditional Metal atop a base of Power Metal. Imagine Judas Priest attempting the latter genre.

Guitar solos are great but moot; Nitte Valo’s voice alone is an instrument—often singing melodies in their full range, as if taking on the role of first-chair violin. It adds a unique and distinctive sound to the band. Listen to “Chaos Rising” for the best example.

The Blaze is a fine specimen of Metal done right. Well-recorded, well-mixed, and of course well-written. To quote Back To The Future, “You know that new sound you’re looking for? Well, listen to this!”

Jude was a reviewer here at Metal Express Radio, living in Taiwan but originally from the great state of Ohio, USA. He first got into music when a fellow weirdo in his catholic high school needed someone to play guitar with. They jammed on some Grunge Rock, but soon he got hooked on the blisteringly-fast shredding of Randy Rhoads and other greats. Later, he bought Metallica's Ride The Lightning as his first album purchase. During that time, his friends and him would end up at local Metal shows. He played in some bands himself as well.
