Best known for his 20+-year stint with Stratovarius, Finland’s Timo Tolkki’s latest incarnation is Avalon (utilizing a cornucopia of recognizable male & female guest musicians).  This compilation being Part 3 of an eventual trilogy, The Land Of New Hope’s storyline is set in post-apocalyptic 2055 — earth’s suffered many natural disasters, and the survivors embark on a journey to find The Land Of New Hope. This release is a true “Rock Opera,” and though well-configured, it feels more like a soundtrack than a true album.  If orchestrations and musical variations are your cup of tea, then check this one out.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
