TORNADO – Fire At Will

Delivering the goods officially for the first time, there you have it, Tornado from Greece. If you are into the older phase of Thrash Metal molded with tunes of Heavy Metal, kinda like American Thrash (with bits of European spice for flavor), then you would encounter a solid start with the Fire At Will album.

The album was produced with efficiency and played out in order to make it sound and feel like a true Bay Area kind of Thrash Metal. Fire At Will will kick your ass, however, not that hard enough. It’s not that the material needs refining or something, it is because with such moshpit material, some stuff could have gone better for them.

Presented tracks as the old school instrumental slot, “Wave Of Fury” (followed by a series of octave playing, you will notice it during the tune), “Tornado”, “Human Race” and the short self-titled, “Fire At Will”, there should be more stuff to thrill your mind. Unfortunately, it does not go off too much when it comes to the other tunes of Fire At Will. There are a few of those Thrashers, which possess good potential as “Sent To The Land” and “Where I Dream” (the latter has a great Heavy Metal vibe in it), yet regrettably, nothing more than that.

The Tornados are a part of one of the most crushing sub-genres in Metal. They try to keep it old while letting the moderns know what old school feels like, and that they will never ever forget it. Nevertheless, while trying to make the message clear, they should strive and perfect themselves for their next release. These guys have the talent and a respect for the roots. Only time will tell if they will take better advantage of it.
