Those appearing on this record may not be unfamiliar to Melodic Rock fans. Fabrizio Grossi is better known for his work with the band Starbreaker which also features Tony Harnell (ex-TNT singer). Eric Ragno can be found on many records, working as a studio and live musician collaborating with David Readman among others. Jimi Bell is best known as the guitarist for the Melodic Rockers House Of Lords. And last, but not least, we have Danny Vaughn who has had a recording career for more than 20 years now. He has been recording under his own name as well for Tyketto and Waysted.

Opener “Light Years” is carried forward by mind-sticking melodies and catchy hooks. What actually strikes home during the first sentences of singing from Danny Vaughn is that his voice sounds like a combination of David Readman (Pink Cream 69) and Ronni Atkins (Pretty Maids). The production is not that good, yet this is the best song on the album, pushed forward by an excellent chorus.

“Making Waves” is a traditional Melodic Rock song, a little familiar to the likes of Survivor and Foreigner for example. It will also remind you a bit of the debut album from Elevener which was released earlier this year, but that is not strange actually because Elevener was inspired by the two already mentioned bands.

“If It’s Not Love” is the first ballad heading out from this album. It is carried by moody keyboards, gentle guitars and nice vocal harmonies. At the end it becomes a little repetitive stamping on the same few chords all the time and singing the chorus over and over again.

“Telemetry” is a song that should be looked a little upon. It’s on a different level than the previous eight songs. Somehow, it feels like the 80s are back on high scale when listening to this one. It’s another one of those tunes that easily could have been on a Journey or Survivor record.

Midway in the album it gets more and more uninteresting. Every song seems to carry on in the very same path as the previous tune, there’s not much variation. Although, almost every song on the album is a fine Melodic Rock song, they get tiring during the play of the entire album. Because of that and the shabby production this album does not get higher marks. Considering the drum production one might say that it sounds a little like it’s taken from a demo tape. That’s a shame, because the rest of the instruments sound just fine.

So, just to look on the album in general it has some great tunes indeed, all from the opener till the ending song “Telemetry” which is a very worthy album-closer. But considering the bad production and the lack of variation it falls short as a recommendation, for this album, as a number one priority for buying. However, if you have a lot of money and don’t know what to spend it on AND happen to like songs that sound more like a clone of each other… then this would be the album for you.
