Whenever you have the word “Hymns” in an album title, you have to expect melancholy and soul-searching lyrical themes … even more so when the word “Broken” is included at the end. That’s basically what you have here: a relatively slow-moving, melancholy, gut-check of an album. Hymns For The Broken is very well made and thought out … but a tough listen from start to finish.
