When you think of Evergrey, you think of Doomy, Dark, Progressive Metal. Having gone through some major changes since their last release 3 years ago, these Swedes are now putting out Hymns For The Broken.  Whenever you have the word “Hymns” in an album title, you have to expect melancholy and soul-searching lyrical themes … even more so when the word “Broken” is included at the end.  That’s basically what you have here:  a relatively slow-moving, melancholy, gut-check of an album. Hymns For The Broken is very well made and thought out … but a tough listen from start to finish.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
