German Hard Rock outfit Lucifer are set to release their fifth studio album entitled Lucifer V on January 26th. Lucifer’s guitarist Nicke Andersson took the time to talk with Metal Express Radio about their upcoming album, signing with Nuclear Blast, playing the Psycho Las Vegas festival, and more. Check out the chat below!

Metal Express Radio: Your band, Lucifer are set to release their fifth studio album entitled Lucifer V on January 26th, what can you tell fans about the upcoming release?

Anderson: We’re very excited about it of course. As after any album an artist make, it feels like the best one yet and this one is no different. Only time will tell if we’re right or wrong. It’s our latest collection of songs and we think it’s a little more diverse than our previous records. It has the slowest and the fastest Lucifer songs to date for whatever it’s worth.

MER: How was the writing and recording process having this being the band’s fifth album?

Anderson: Pretty much the same as the albums before it. Johanna and myself write most of the songs together. The exception being “Riding Reaper” and “Strange Sister” which Johanna wrote together with Linus Björklund (guitar).

MER: How do you feel about the band signing with Nuclear Blast?

Anderson: We feel very good about it. Century Media were good too but it was time to move on. We expect many great things from Nuclear Blast.

MER: Next month you’ll be touring with Angel Witch in Europe, what are your expectations on the upcoming tour?

Anderson: We expect it being equally fantastic as the North America part of the Satanic Panic excursion. We’re all fans of Angel Witch and to see them every night is going to be a blast. Attic and The Night eternal are very fine groups too.

MER: What do you see as plans for you and the band after the European tour?

Anderson: More shows and tours, festivals and one offs.

MER: You have done massive festivals such as the KISS Kruise, Psycho Las Vegas, and Wacken just to make a few, what have been some of your favorite memories from playing these festivals?

Anderson: To play Psycho Las Vegas outside in 42 degrees celsius was a daunting task to say the least but we pulled it off and the show was great. The make shift dressing room next to the stage had a little pool so we could jump right in there after the show. Having a few cold ones and watch C.O.C. from the water is a great memory indeed.

MER: Having done festivals as well as club tours, is there any that you prefer and why?

Anderson: We like both. It really depends on the show. There are pros and cons with both.

MER: Is there anyone that you hope to tour with that you haven’t yet and why?

Anderson: Satan would be great to tour with. Also Lucifer’s Friend if they were around. The poster alone would be hilarious.

MER: Your band is approaching almost ten years, how does it feel looking back to 2014 when the band first started?

Anderson: It feels weird but also quite comforting as I think we’ve made really good records together and it feels like we’re still getting better and better.

MER: Out of your five studio album’s, what is one you would suggest to a new fan and why?

Anderson: I would suggest Lucifer V simply because I really do think it’s our best one so far.
