Fronted by former Kings of Dust and one time Jake E. Lee’s Red Dragon Cartel singer Michael Thomas Beck, Escape The Hive came to life in 2021 and also features James ‘Rooster’ Olson (Big & Rich, Mark Chestnutt, Chely Wright, etc), keyboardist Mike Vars, bassist Paul Williams (of DL Marble) and drummer A.D. Adams (Crash Street Kids, Dirty Looks, Beat Angels).

With their roots firmly planted in 70s Arena Rock, along the lines of Foreigner, Deep Purple, Journey and the like, Escape The Hive has material that’s said to sit alongside their new contemporaries in the New Wave of Classic Rock phenomenon that’s taking hold across the world.

Recorded at Phoenix’s Soundvision Studios, This is Gonna Sting was produced by frontman Beck and shows the quintet expanding on those 70s Arena Rock influences with modern production values. The sonics of the record are a throwback to that sound. A very vintage approach. With soaring harmonies that are ingrained in that writing style with some of the flash and dynamics of the 80s.

This week the band will host the Friday Guest DJ Show and introduce ten of their most influential Hard Rock songs. After the show we will spin a handful of tracks of their debut album This Is Gonna Sting is due out this summer. You can pre order the album here.

Escape The Hive already released two singles from the new album. Check out the lyric video for “It’s Not Alright” here:

Stig is the founder and the president of Metal Express Radio, based out of Oslo, Norway. He has been around doing Metal radio since the mid-eighties. In fact, running Metal Express Radio takes almost all of his time. Is it worth it...? "Most times, yes," Stig says. "My philosophy is to try to give all Metal releases a fair chance to get promoted in one way or another. As you can imagine, it can be an arduous task to listen through about 20 albums every week! Still, I know we have the best METAL dedicated radio on this planet, and that is a reward in and of itself. I hope one day the whole Metal community can and will make listening to Metal Express Radio part of their daily rituals! Yeah, right..."
