Swedish Melodic Metal Masters Return

Stockholm’s Dynazty have completed their 8th full-length studio album titled Final Advent, and the new record is chocked full of giant melodies, slick guitars and as always the highest standard in production. The follow up to 2020’s highly successful Dark Delight, the new album continues the journey this talented group are on: To refine and define their sound. Lead by vocalist Nils Molin, with Love Magnusson and Mikael Lavér on guitars, Jonathan Olsson on bass guitar and Georg Härnsten Egg on the drums, Dynazty have yet again delivered on the promise of great, listenable Melodic Heavy Metal.

Full Creative Control

Final Advent was produced by the band themselves and primarily recorded in Love Magnusson’s studio in Stockholm. Drums were recorded in Denmark at the Hansen Studios, owned by sound icon Jacob Hansen, who also mixed and mastered the album. The band had lots of time due to the pandemic to create an album that they feel is the best version of Dynazty to date. Nils Molin states: “We decided to come up with the most cohesive and definitive album and version of ourselves yet. Game plan: no fillers, all killers.” As to the songs, Nils continues “Power Of Will” was one of the first songs we wrote for the album and it immediately mapped the route for the rest of the material. In my opinion the result is our most intense album so far and doubtlessly features some of the strongest songs we’ve ever written”.

Final Notes

As with their previous albums, the band clearly shows that having control over their production and overall direction is key to creating the music the way they envision it. Overall, it’s a strong album, though at times the tempo on several tracks can make things run together into a bit of sameness, as the majority of the songs tend to have the same beat. Top tracks for this reviewer include “All The Devils Are Here”, “Heart Of Darkness” and “Instinct”. Final Advent is another notch in the belt of a young band that continues to deliver Melodic Metal at a high level of skill. Definitely worth checking out for all fans of Melodic Metal.
