User Review
( votes)Influential Denmark Heavy Metal band Alien Force, released their debut album Hell and High Water in 1985. The album is considered legendary in the NWOBHM underground. The Danes followed up with 1986’s Pain and Pleasure. The ’90s proved problematic for Alien Force and they disbanded. After a couple of festival appearances in recent years, Alien Force is back with their first studio album in 35 years, We Meet Again.
The Album
Solid chugga-chugga riffs lead the charge on “Set Me Free.” Peter Svale Andersen has a unique vocal delivery, very throaty but still melodic. If repetition is the father of all learning, then you are sure to learn the hook on “Rebellions” in no time. This call-to-arms song is not just infectious, but its also a thought-provoking commentary. “I Decide” is a simple, catchy, and melodic. “Killing Time” slows the album’s pace down with deep and haunting guitar tones that pick up as the emotion escalates.
“Forgive Me” wastes no time in getting the energy back up with it’s late ’70s, early ’80s Classic Rock vibe. “We Meet Again” has some killer riffage as well as some ProgRock elements to it. “Precious Time” is dominated by Frank East’s thumping bass and the fiery guitar work of Henrik Rasmussen. Michael Rasmussen’s drums are in the pocket, as much as they have been throughout the album. “Song For You” closes out the album with plenty of emotion and power for a ballad.
The Verdict
We Meet Again was worth the 35 year wait. The album is loaded with all the guitars, melody, and power you crave.
