Short and sweet is the best way to describe the Melvins show live from Sound Of Sirens Studio in LA. As we all know, due to state of things, we missed out on the yearly in your face live shows at our favorite venues. However, the Melvins New Years stream of “Vol. 1” was perfect to satisfy your Melvins fix. Running through Jan. 8th, there is still time to get yours.

As the show begins, we find ourselves following Buzz and Steven to the corner store to buy a six pack, dressed of course in the normal Melvins attire. Upon leaving, they meet Dale around the corner who then drives them off in the back of a truck.

Cut to the studio. Complete with incredible psychedelic effects, the band punches right into “Edgar the Elephant” from their 2017 album A Walk with Love and Death. The 6 song set (see setlist below) continued with fan favorites Anaconda, Hooch and Honey bucket. The band was tight and the sound was spot on making the place rumble with the sound of the Melvins.

We were also treated to some great stories and insight from each band member. Buzz who was very adamant about the use of open tuning. Dale’s debate on what makes a great BBQ and Stevens experience with the lady who was suing a restaurant for her missing calories.

I can’t say enough about the Melvins. They have proven over and over their ability to adapt and bring great music to their fans and alike. We now await Vol 2 which I am sure will be just as satisfying.

Setlist:

Edgar the Elephant
Anaconda
Hooch
Honey Bucket
The Kicking Machine
Evil New War God
