Bay Area Thrashers Return With Aggression

It’s been 10 years since the release of Heathen’s comeback album The Evolution of Chaos. As they say, good things come to those who wait. Heathen is on the cusp of releasing their fourth studio album Empire of the Blind [review]. It promises to push the limits of aggression, melody, and power. At first listen of the advanced singles from the album, truer words couldn’t have been spoken. Guitarist Kragen Lum has been working on the album between 2012 and 2019 since the band signed with Nuclear Blast Records. Vocalist David White sat down to chat with Metal Express Radio ahead of the album’s release.

Highlights include:

  • Discussion of Heathen’s latest album Empire of the Blind
  • Why ten years has passed since Heathen’s last release
  • Memories of the early Heathen years
  • The aftermath of bad management
  • Ronnie Montrose’s effect on the recording of Breaking the Silence (1987)
  • Why the band wouldn’t rework Victims of Deception (1991)
  • The Evolution of Chaos (2010) 10 Year Anniversary release
  • Will the back catalog be remastered and remixed?
  • Is there a live release in the works?
