We Are The Night is the second solo release from Free Fall. Free Fall is the brainchild of Swedish musician, songwriter, composer, and producer Magnus Karlsson. Like the first record, Karlsson performed most of the instrumentation except for the drums, performed by Anders Kollerfors. Karlsson then recruited a handful of top vocalists, including Noora Louhimo (Battle Beast), Dino Jelusick (Animal Drive, Dirty Shirley), Ronnie Romero (Rainbow), Renan Zonta (Electric Mob), Tony Martin, (ex-Black Sabbath), and Mike Andersson (Cloudscape), and Karlsson himself sings on 2 tracks.

We Are The Night is exceptionally good. The production is crisp and clear, the musicianship is outstanding. The songs are extremely well written and arranged. The vocalists each shine in unique and different ways. The record is billed as Melodic Rock, but there are many elements of Progressive Metal, Symphonic Metal, and Power Metal. There are 12 songs on We Are The Night and they are all very good. Since many of the vocalists only appear on one or two songs, each is capable of being a single by itself. The first track, “Hold Your Fire” features Dino Jelusick, and it is one of the best. Another standout is “Queen Of Fire”, featuring Noora Louhimo. Even “On My Way Back To Earth”, the instrumental track, is a great listen.

We Are The Night is a serious contender for the best of 2020, and must-listen for fans of Karlsson’s previous work, fans of Power Metal, Progressive Metal, and Melodic Metal.

Red Reign toured with Tesla in 2017, and shared the stage with Dokken, FireHouse, Lita Ford, Kix, Quiet Riot, and others at various dates around the US in 2018. Stevie heard his first KISS record at the age of 6 and was immediately hooked on Rock and Roll guitar. Over the course of years his tastes evolved, graduating from KISS to Ozzy and Van Halen; and then into Hair Metal. Over time, harder and faster music drew him. Bands like Metallica, Pantera, and Anthrax led the way, and Killswitch Engage took him over the top. Stevie has a deep passion for the guitar, not only playing them, but building them as well.
