The World In Focus is the second release from Swedish Hard Rock/Metal band Mile. Mile was created 2012 by former members of Cabinett – Marcus ”Masken” Karlsson (Vocals), Fredrik Palm (Guitar) and Marcus ”Folke” Bass – The line-up was completed by drummer Dennis Kjellgren and guitarist David ”Dave” Wallberg. Sweden and the Nordic countries seem to be leading the way in the Hard Rock and Metal genres of late, and Mile is a welcome addition to the bands putting out excellent music. Extremely well produced, and sonically large, The World In Focus is a powerful record. The first track, “Crying In Your Sleep”, fades in and quickly fills the ears with pounding drums and crushing guitars. Karlsson’s vocals are melodic and gravelly, calling to mind David Draiman of Disturbed. The songs are well written, and the performances are on point.

The World In Focus is a very good sounding record. There is a range of dynamics, which is less common in harder music. There are very powerful, driving tracks, like “Why Won’t You (Die Motherfucker)”, and “Dressed In Black”; some more moderate tempo and melodic offerings, ala “When Time Goes By”, and even a dark, brooding ballad, “Fade Away”. The only downside to Mile’s sophomore release is the lead guitar. It is fairly simplistic in comparison with the rest of the record, and leaves some to be desired in the context of the songs. Fans of Hard Rock and Metal should give ear to Mile. Great songs, and very well done.

Red Reign toured with Tesla in 2017, and shared the stage with Dokken, FireHouse, Lita Ford, Kix, Quiet Riot, and others at various dates around the US in 2018. Stevie heard his first KISS record at the age of 6 and was immediately hooked on Rock and Roll guitar. Over the course of years his tastes evolved, graduating from KISS to Ozzy and Van Halen; and then into Hair Metal. Over time, harder and faster music drew him. Bands like Metallica, Pantera, and Anthrax led the way, and Killswitch Engage took him over the top. Stevie has a deep passion for the guitar, not only playing them, but building them as well.
