Grieve No More is the fourth studio release from Finnish Symphonic Metal/Power Metal band Random Eyes. Consisting of founding member/ vocalist Christian Palin (Panorama, Adagio), and guitarist Markus Grimald, plus “studio musicians”, Random Eyes delivers a 10 song quick hitter. Clocking in at just over 37 minutes, Grieve No More gets right down to business. The record begins with an instrumental, “Trail Of Tears”, with 4 bars of calm, and then the onslaught begins. Pounding double bass, harmonized lead guitars that are at times almost dissonant, set a powerful yet dark tone for this record.

After that minute and a half intro, the album goes full tilt with “Myopathy,” adding Palin’s soaring vocals to the mix. Again, the use of discordant harmonies add to the dark feeling of the music, this time on the vocals. The lyrical content portrays a message of hope, in fact Random Eye’s bio sheet professes that they are on a mission to bring hope and light to a world caught in disarray and chaos. Track 7, “Do What Thou Wilt” is the only slight break in the breakneck pace of Grieve No More, and it’s no ballad by any stretch of the imagination. Definite bright spots, “Fate Loves The Fearless”, “Never Too Late”, and “The Final Quest” make Grieve No More stand out from the pack, but the entire record is well done. Aside from some unsettling harmonies, certainly done for effect, Grieve No More is a very enjoyable listen.

Over the course of years his tastes evolved, graduating from KISS to Ozzy and Van Halen; and then into Hair Metal. Over time, harder and faster music drew him. Bands like Metallica, Pantera, and Anthrax led the way, and Killswitch Engage took him over the top. Stevie has a deep passion for the guitar, not only playing them, but building them as well.
