Bad Blood Rising is the third release from Finnish Modern Hard Rock Band Santa Cruz. Heavily influenced by the greatest bands of the Sunset Strip and the heyday of 80’s Glam Metal, Santa Cruz combine the best of modern, heavy riffs, modern production, and 80s Rock and Roll attitude and debauchery. Named one of Rolling Stone Magazine’s “Top 10 Bands You Need to Know”, Santa Cruz does not disappoint. Bad Blood Rising kicks off with “Young Blood Rising”, a modern hard edged ripper with killer riffs, killer vocals, and just a great sound.

While the record delves stylistically into modern and retro sounds, big rockers and even some forays into ballad territory ala “Breathe” and “Get Me Out Of California”, this record just sounds great. Exceptional songwriting. Exceptional performances, expertly melding modern and vintage, and even some hip hop elements. (“Voice Of A New Generation”). Joonas “Johnny” Parkkonen is a fantastic player, evoking images of some of the greats, particularly Pornografitti era Nuno Bettencourt. Archie Cruz’s Vocals are gravelly but powerful, reminiscent of Kip Winger, and his guitar chops rival Parroken, making them a ferocious duo. Mitja “Middy” Toivonen on Bass and Tapani “Taz” Fagerstrom round out the band and the rhythm section is a perfect fit for the music. Fans of Modern Rock and Hair Metal should absolutely check out Bad Blood Rising. It is definitely one of this year’s best.

Red Reign toured with Tesla in 2017, and shared the stage with Dokken, FireHouse, Lita Ford, Kix, Quiet Riot, and others at various dates around the US in 2018. Stevie heard his first KISS record at the age of 6 and was immediately hooked on Rock and Roll guitar. Over the course of years his tastes evolved, graduating from KISS to Ozzy and Van Halen; and then into Hair Metal. Over time, harder and faster music drew him. Bands like Metallica, Pantera, and Anthrax led the way, and Killswitch Engage took him over the top. Stevie has a deep passion for the guitar, not only playing them, but building them as well.
