Life is the fifth studio release from French Progressive Metal band Adagio.  Continuing the band’s evolution from straight Progressive Metal to Symphonic Metal (and even beyond), Life draws influence from Eastern Ethnic and Djent styles of music, while still retaining heavy orchestration and technical precision.

Lead Guitarist and founding member Stefan Forte created his own label, Zeta Nemesis, and the band was able to fund this record by crowd donations with an Indiegogo campaign.  Members Franck Hermanny- Bass, Kevin Codfert-Keyboards, Jelly Cardarelli-Drums, Mayline Gautie-Violin, and Kelly Sundown Carpenter-Lead Vocals round out the line-up, and each turns in a very proficient performance.

The first single released from Life is called “Subrahmanya”, an almost 7-minute epic infused with Eastern Music flavor, and very heavy modern Djent riffs.  “Darkness Machines” is another very heavy, very progressive track, and it incorporates elements of Djent, some very Dream Theater-esque keyboard lines, and growling vocals.

All in all, this record has great dynamics, flows well, and aside from some mix issues, this is a very good album.  You can’t help but feel you’ve been taken on a musical journey.  Fans of Progressive Metal, Epic Metal, Djent, and Symphonic Metal should find something to enjoy on Life.

Red Reign toured with Tesla in 2017, and shared the stage with Dokken, FireHouse, Lita Ford, Kix, Quiet Riot, and others at various dates around the US in 2018. Stevie heard his first KISS record at the age of 6 and was immediately hooked on Rock and Roll guitar. Over the course of years his tastes evolved, graduating from KISS to Ozzy and Van Halen; and then into Hair Metal. Over time, harder and faster music drew him. Bands like Metallica, Pantera, and Anthrax led the way, and Killswitch Engage took him over the top. Stevie has a deep passion for the guitar, not only playing them, but building them as well.
