Ancestral hails from Italy, and Master Of Fate is their sophomore release … however, it’s been about 10 years since their debut, so perhaps this is a second crack by the band to introduce themselves to the world. Ancestral plays Power Metal in every sense of the word. Plenty of speed and power can be found in virtually every song, and vocally they live up to the clean, higher octave prototype (although the microphone doesn’t compare in pure quality to the talent apparent in the rest of the band). If Power Metal is your cup of tea, then you’ll find plenty to enjoy within Master Of Fate. However, Metal fans in general may feel the band becomes repetitive and a bit unimaginative as the album progresses. Still, a solid effort and certainly a commendable addition to the Power Metal subgenre.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
