With Cardinal, Eden’s Curse ride a fine line between AOR and Melodic Power Metal, and they do it perfectly. Thorsten Koehne’s guitar leads are executed with laser-sharp precision and are a highlight of the album along with Nikola Mijic’s pristine vocal delivery. Keyboardist Chrism, who is the newest addition to Eden’s Curse, makes his presence known with tasteful arpeggiated lines and subtle synth pads. Catchy melodies abound not to mention vocal hooks that could raise the Titanic.

Cardinal‘s tracks alternate between melodic anthems like “Sell Your Soul” and heavier numbers like “Messiah Complex” and “Utopian Dreams”. With their calculated mixtures of Metal, Eden’s Curse can draw in fans of more seasoned acts like Hardline and Magnum as well as the more contemporary Metal groups like Stratovarius and even Dragonforce.

Highlights  include “Prophets Of Doom”, “Utopian Dreams”(worth the price of the album alone) and “Rome’s On Fire”. Fans can only hope that the ladies who grace the cover will be in attendance at all Eden’s Curse shows.
