This Week’s Guest DJ: INTRINSIC!

This week’s Guest DJ host is Intrinsic guitarist Mike Mellinger

Intrinsic is a progressive thrash/power metal band formed originally in 1984 on the Central Coast of California. Their album, Nails, was released at the end of 2015 on Divebomb Records. It was recorded in 1992 and originally slated to be their sophomore album, but due to record industry dynamics, Nails was not released at that time and was almost lost to the ages until Divebomb stepped in. Nails is a powerful addition to the Intrinsic discography that includes their self-titled album of 1987, the Distortion of Perspective EP of 1990 and 1995’s full length album Closure.

The energy gained from reunion shows in 2005 and 2007 and the process of releasing Nails contributed to a resurrection of the Closure-era Intrinsic lineup. The band is currently writing new material with a full length album release planned for 2017.

Tune in at 15:00 and 21:00 CET/ 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. EST this Friday to hear the show!

Stig is the founder and the president of Metal Express Radio, based out of Oslo, Norway. He has been around doing Metal radio since the mid-eighties. In fact, running Metal Express Radio takes almost all of his time. Is it worth it...? "Most times, yes," Stig says. "My philosophy is to try to give all Metal releases a fair chance to get promoted in one way or another. As you can imagine, it can be an arduous task to listen through about 20 albums every week! Still, I know we have the best METAL dedicated radio on this planet, and that is a reward in and of itself. I hope one day the whole Metal community can and will make listening to Metal Express Radio part of their daily rituals! Yeah, right..."
