Gojira hails from France and Magma is their 6th full-length release.  Many bands mix subgenres of Metal together, but one of the most unlikely concoctions is the blend of Progressive with Death Metal.  Only a few bands have attempted this unlikely combination with some degree of success … most notably Opeth and Vintersorg.  However, with Magma, Gojira makes a solid claim at taking the throne, because this is indeed an impressive work of musical art that’s a pleasure to listen to regardless of what your primary Metal preference may be.   There’s power, there’s virtuosity, and most of all, there’s incredible creativity.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
