This album has been a long time coming, and Fans swayed between anticipation and frustration, especially because the band has generally been very active lately. Then finally Hammer Damage is released, but it turned out to be a mixed effort. On the upside you have Kevin Goocher’s great voice and occasional guitar parts that reminisce of the good old times from 1984 to ’87 where the band made Metal history. Sure, most songs cannot live up to the early efforts of Omen, but that would have been a miracle. What is more disappointing is the sound. The drum sound is terrible and makes Hammer Damage less enjoyable than this good album would be with a better production.
