The Dust Bowl Jokies hail from Sweden, and their self-titled album is the band’s second release. As the name would indicate, the band is a gritty, down and dirty, Sleaze Metal band with plenty of piss & vinegar energy behind their songwriting.

They have plenty of hooks and catchiness within the 10 tracks comprising Dust Bowl Jokies, which may remind you of bands such as Dangerous Toys and Cowboy Prostitutes. The only knock on this album is perhaps its “over-grittiness” … vocalist Alexx tends to oversell the brash and garbled aspects of his voice, which at times dominates the soundscapes.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
