What more can be said about the NWOBHM stalwarts Saxon that hasn’t already been said? There are few bands in any genre of music who have “stayed the course” as tightly as Saxon has throughout their now 21 studio albums. With Saxon and Biff Byford at the helm, you know you’re going to get aggressive, ball-busting, no frills or fluff Traditional Heavy Metal from start to finish of each release, and Battering Ram is no exception (and appropriately titled). This release may not be quite as strong as some of their others this decade, but Saxon delivers a punch nonetheless.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
