My Refuge is an Epic Power/Progressive Metal band from Italy, and A Matter Of Supremacy is their debut full-length release coming off the waves of a couple prior EPs. The band’s style, especially vocally, strongly reminds of Blind Guardian … if you are a fan, then you’re likely to love My Refuge’s musical approach and soundscapes. The band’s strength and weakness, however, is vocalist Davide Vella. Though talented (especially when showing the ability to hold a note) and sounding much like Hansi Kürsch from Blind Guardian, Vella over-extends his welcome on this album, and overshadows the band’s inherent musical talents.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
